An eventful year full of moving stories lies behind us.With MOTHER’S BABY in competition at the Berlinale, YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, MR DROWAK? in competition at the Shanghai International Film Festival (including the award for Best Cinematography for Markus Nestroy), the production of LOVE ROULETTE and its sold-out (pre-)premieres (now playing in cinemas!), the participation of WAKE UP in the Series Lab, as well as the successes of PRANK at the Zurich Film Festival, we were able to set important artistic and international impulses in 2025.To kick off the new year, we will be represented with five films at the Solothurn Film Festival in January 2026 – a welcome occasion for both looking back and ahead. |

YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, MR DROWAK? The optimistic student Lena (Luna Wedler) takes on a writing course – with only one participant: Hugo Drowak (Karl Markovics), a bitter, hard-drinking misanthrope. Once, he wrote love poetry with great passion, until a profound disappointment drove him into alcohol and isolation. Despite his rudeness, Lena refuses to give up. She firmly believes that everyone deserves a second chance and sets out to rekindle Hugo’s creative spark. |

A mix-up involving a pizza box full of money attracts not only a gang of gangster rappers led by the notorious Miss Nelly, but also the real mafia and a bumbling duo of police officers. What follows is a wild adventure that pulls the two unlikely boys into a whirlwind of rapidly escalating events. |

MOTHER'S BABY Julia (Marie Leuenberger), 40, a successful conductor, and her partner Georg (Hans Löw), 44, long for a child when Dr. Vilfort (Claes Bang) offers them hope. Following a successful treatment at his clinic, Julia becomes pregnant. But the birth takes an unexpected turn, and the newborn is taken away immediately. Julia is left in the dark about what has happened. When she finally holds the baby in her arms, she feels strangely detached. She even begins to doubt whether the child is truly hers. |

We’re excited for what’s to come: YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, MR DROWAK? will open the prestigious Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival in Saarbrücken on 19 January and will be released in cinemas in Germany and Austria on 19 February, distributed by X Verleih. The shooting of THE FLYING MOUNTAIN, the new feature film by Swiss director Nicolas Steiner, an international co-production with Samson Films (Dublin) and Amour Fou Vienna, has already begun and will continue from February in Ireland, Nepal, Valais and Vienna. The four-part docu-fiction series THE ANGEL MAKER (directed by Marina Klauser) about the Swiss religious community Methernita is currently in post-production. The series is scheduled to premiere in autumn 2026, alongside the launch of the new SRG streaming platform Play+. GNADE, the new feature film by Stefan Jäger, tells the story of the last execution in Switzerland and stars Luna Wedler and Max Hubacher in the leading roles. Those who missed THE TASTERS in cinemas can now watch Silvio Soldini’s latest feature film on Netflix. |
