Koni kehrte von einem Routinegang zu einer Messstation auf dem gr\u00f6nl\u00e4ndischen Eisschild nicht mehr zum Basislager, dem \u00abSwiss Camp\u00bb, zuru\u0308ck. Sein r\u00e4tselhaftes Verschwinden besch\u00e4ftigt bis heute seine Freunde, wissenschaftlichen Weggef\u00e4hrten und seine Familie. Ein Jahr nach Steffens Tod musste das \u00abSwiss Camp\u00bb aufgegeben werden, da der Eisschild durch die zunehmende Schmelze und die wachsenden Gletscherspalten zu instabil und gef\u00e4hrlich fu\u0308r die Wissenschaftler wurde. Fu\u0308r seine Kinder und seine Schwester ist der Verlust besonders schmerzhaft, da sie keinen Abschied nehmen konnten.
