In a kindergarten, bereaved families meet weekly in a bereavement group led by YVONNE (51) to work through the problems caused by the deaths. We follow the characters into their private lives and get to know their individual conflicts: KATHRIN (34), for example, who lost her child in the sixth month of pregnancy and has since become increasingly estranged from her husband, ANDREAS (32), becomes unplanned pregnant after a one-night stand with the bachelor, KILIAN (39). Haunted by the ghost of his deceased mother, Kilian involuntarily befriends the lonely postman, HARALD (48), only to realise that he must face up to the conflict with his father. Harald, who is suffering from cancer and has cheated his way into the group out of grief over his imminent death by inventing a deceased brother, finds social contact for the first time in his life. But as we all know, lies have short legs. The upbeat widow, FIONA (66), who, according to her children, does not show appropriate grief, also finds herself in a clinch. Misunderstood by her own children, she finds a supporter in the traumatised suicide survivor, MIA (19). But Mia also needs good encouragement. The young woman struggles with her feelings of guilt and has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder since the discovery of her ex-boyfriend's body. Towards the end of the season, the group takes a trip to the mountains together to continue coping with their grief. After their car breaks down and they get lost several times, the weekend ends rather unexpectedly: Although the group members manage to face their grief, Yvonne does not survive her own farewell ritual in a sweat lodge. When the group bids a posthumous farewell to their leader, Yvonne's well-kept secret comes to light. Although she always claimed to be experienced in grief, it becomes clear that she has in fact never overcome her grief for her husband.
