1939. A small Swiss mountain village near the Austrian border. The war seems a long way off up here. But one day Anna shows up, having fled across the green border from Austria to Switzerland because her Jewish husband has become a victim of the Nazis, who are now searching for her. Anton, who came to the village years ago as a teacher, reluctantly takes in the stranger and thus sets something in motion that will shake the village community to its core.
