Markus Imhoof is one of the most important Swiss film directors. "Das Boot ist voll" or "More Than Honey" received worldwide recognition. The documentary film by Stefan Jäger pays tribute to his oeuvre and shows a work that tells more about Switzerland than one might assume at first glance.

Markus Imhoof celebrates his 80th birthday on September 19, 2021. As a globetrotter, he has always been drawn to faraway places - both professionally and privately. Today, Markus Imhoof lives in Berlin. Whenever the filmmaker sets out to work on a new story - he always looks for the references in his own experience, often they emerge from his past or from the stories of his ancestors. In doing so, Imhoof never loses sight of the big picture, and with seemingly effortless ease he explores themes that have global relevance far beyond the borders of Switzerland. It is perhaps this skill that characterizes his long career and with which he reaches an audience that is fascinated by his unique films that start small and yet mean the whole world.
